Melissa Anna Marijke Dahlia Tuber

Melissa Anna Marijke is a short dahlia that barely gets 2 foot tall. While the plants are short, one can still find 12-inch stems for a bouquet. Melissa Anna Marijke pairs well with Salish Twilight Girl. 

The leaf color of dark foliage dahlias is dependent on light level. High levels of light maximize the color; shaded plants will have washed-out purplish green leaves. Plants imaged on this page were grown in a somewhat shaded location; higher light levels will increase the amount of purple pigment in the leaves. 

Melissa Anna Marijke is an excellent border dahlias. It needs less disbudding because plants mostly produce 2 buds per stem rather than usual 4. Even without disbudding and deadheading the bed looks OK (see last image in the list).
